Formed London 2005, the original line up was Shaun Milton (aka. Synge
Smith) and Gerald Clark (vocals and piano), with associate members Cai-Marle
Garcia – Bass, Daisy Coole – Saxophone, and Eric Young – Drums. In the Spring
of 2006 they played their first gig at the Londons famous 12 Bar
Club.
Their first album `Where the silence should be’ was released
in 2006 by Zube Records. A collection of atmospheric, sometimes idiosyncratic,
piano-based songs. The stripped down production of these song’s have
echo's of Roxy Music (a major influence) along with of Chet
Baker, seventies-era Beach Boy’s ballards and Tom Waits dreamscapes:
romantic and edgy. The twelve unreliable memoirs
on this collection take you on a journey peopled by seaside ghosts,
lost girlfriends and last chance losers. |

Gerald left in mid-2007 to work on his solo
album, hisx place being taken by Hermione Love, playing
her first gig with the act at the
Raymond Review Bar in Soho. Since
then Shaun and Hermione have been writing new songs and working on the
next album, provisionally entitled `Dog Violets.’ Two new songs, `Moon
Valley’ and `The Rat’ are included on the new Zube Sampler. The
sound has evolved since the first album drawing on Hermione’s own
background in English folk and classical music and Shaun’s on-going synth-obsession
with early Roxy Music, Kraftwerk and Cluster. The new album should be
out in late 2009.
A fabulist will tell you this: every story is a true story.
